How to create interesting content for a “boring” industry – #DIGITALSQUAREUP
In this weeks episode, I discuss how you can keep your readers engaged with your content, even if your industry isn’t one a lot of people find exciting. Here are my top tips:
1. Helpful things are rarely boring
Boring content isn’t boring to people who need it. If somebody needs an answer to a mundane question, your content will instantly become useful and interesting. Well, at least not actively boring!
2. Cut out the business babble!
When you know a lot about something, it is easy to forget not everybody else does. A quick Google search will allow you to recognise the terms your audience are searching to find out about your product/service. So try to incorporate these into your content to make it more relatable.
3. Give readers a break!
If readers are faced with a large block of text, it’s unlikely that they will sit and read through it all. Instead, break up this text with bullet points and images. Try to add headings frequently to allow readers to skip to the part they find relevant to what they are looking for.
4. Finally, let your inner comedian shine!
Don’t be afraid to crack a joke! If it comes naturally and doesn’t detract attention away from the message you’re getting across them lighthearted humour can keep readers engaged for much longer.
I hope you found this useful, and remember if you have any digital marketing related questions tweet @YourStory_Leeds with the hashtag #DIGITALSQUAREUP for your question answered in next weeks video.
