A day with House of Colour.

Date September 23, 2018

I love my job! I’m working with Elaine Gill, a House of Colour stylist based in Harrogate, helping her to help spread the word through social media about how a colour consultation can change the way you shop for clothes, by helping you to create a wardrobe of fewer pieces which all work together to enhance your natural skin tones.

Originally, I thought understood colour, but during our 4 hour session I learnt so much about the colours I suit the most

Each person falls into one of the four seasons. While wearing no makeup with my hair covered up, Elaine draped a series of coloured scarves around my neck to idetify my season – which revealed that I am an Autumn person!

She then chose make up to suit my style and skin tone and draped all the Autumn shades around my kneck to reveal I’m a vibrant autumn person! Finally, we had lunch and discussed how I could use this new found knowledge. Elaine gave me a lovely leather wallet containing the colours I suited most, to take shopping with me.

I couldn’t wait to get home and go through my wardrobe!

My main takeaways:

  • The staple colour black doesn’t do anything for me! Luckily, I don’t need to buy a new wardrobe straight away, instead I can accessorise my black jackets with colours that suit me better.

  • Some of the colours that suit me most, are the colours I’d stayed away from in the past – greens and rusts in particular!

  • I really recommend a colour consultation, especially if you’re feeling dowdy or need a confidence boost. It will change the way you shop forever, I can’t wait to go shopping!
