A week in the life of Coronavirus and Your Story

Your Story LeedsToday is one of my good friend’s birthday. About 20 of us had planned to go to Bibi’s on Sunday to see a Frankie Valli show. Instead, we decided on a Zoom party. My friend brought these lovely parcels filled with goodies which were such a lovely thought, and we managed to access Zoom on the TV. We all got dressed up and ha presto we were all in the same room. It seemed a bit weird at first, but we all got into it and had a good night. I was surprised the next morning to find the house was a mess and I had a bad head, how did that happen?

Zoom has become an essential tool during the lockdown. Last week I enjoyed the daily Zoom presentation from All in. Leeds providing practical advice and support on working from home, accessing financial support and furloughing staff. On Thursday I joined a discussion @the digital hub to hear @Chris Morris from Shoo Social discuss their experience of the lockdown and discussed how we are all adapting and capitalising on the opportunities it presents.

Technology is great but it doesn’t beat face to face communication. Over the weekend I dropped a little Easter present at some of my friend’s homes as part of my daily walk and took the opportunity for conversation, all be it observing social distancing and that proved a rare treat!

And of course, some of my clients continue to thrive.

www.shopappy.com has signed up over 100 towns enabling local shops and businesses to continue to trade during this period using delivery services.

And the job is not done yet, there is still a lot of work to do onboarding new businesses and spreading the word – ‘Shopping local is for life, not just for lockdown’. Please share!

So with 3 more weeks of #lockdown likely we look to the future and wonder just how much will have changed at the end of it. As it is, I’m grateful for the chance to be busy with clients and work on my business as well as in my business.
